Our Mission and Vison

Mission Statement

Swale Council for Voluntary Service is committed to the promotion and development of Voluntary Action within the area of Swale.

To do this:

We work with individuals, voluntary and community groups providing information, advice and practical help.
We encourage partnerships between the voluntary and statutory sectors and we liaise with and represent the view of the voluntary sector.
We encourage good practices and equality of opportunity whilst seeking to challenge oppression and discrimination

Our Vision

In line with the historical developments of Swale CVS and the projected future strategic needs of the community, a vision has been formulated which will drive forward the business of the organisation for the forthcoming years. In overall terms the vision, which is a development of the Mission Statement, is as follows:

‘To promote, develop, and manage the voluntary and community sectors of Swale to fully participate in the overall economy of the borough, seeking opportunities through delivery of services in planned growth either through voluntary and community partnerships, specific voluntary and community organisations, or through volunteering opportunities and initiatives for individuals within their communities’

As part of the overall vision, there are a number of components parts;
    • To continue to be recognised as the umbrella voluntary sector organisation in Swale dedicated to community development initiatives & volunteering
    • To continue to be the primary voluntary and community sector organisation working in partnership with the statutory sector in strategic planning throughout the social welfare sectors
    • Through the Swale Community Empowerment Network, provide a communications strategy which allows all sections of the voluntary and community sector to be involved and participate in wider regeneration initiatives
    • To continue to develop routes and pathways to volunteering opportunities, ensuring quality placements, training and support systems and networks
