Swale Community Empowerment Network

The Swale Community Empowerment Network (SCEN) is a network of Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) groups and organisations based in Swale who are interested in making a difference in their community.

The SCEN is designed to give the voluntary and community sector and the communities they serve a voice that makes a difference and enable more people to play an active role in, and influence decisions that affect their communities. It also strives to promote equality, diversity and cohesion within communities.

By joining SCEN, voluntary and community groups have the opportunity to;

  • Influence local service provision within Swale
  • Influence local decision making
  • Find out what is happening locally in Swale
  • Share ideas and meet other people.

To become a member of the SCEN simply fill in the form.

The SCEN wants to help create a borough where;

  • More active citizens with the motivation, skills and confidence to speak up for their communities and express what improvements are needed
  • People are empowered to make and employ local decisions. Communities influencing public services and local decision making, leading to improvements in service provision though greater civic participation
  • Stronger communities have the capacity, capability and resources to bring people together to create shared solutions and take action
  • Healthier communities feel happier and have a greater sense of wellbeing and satisfaction about the place in which they live.

The SCEN meets every three months at different venues across Swale and all members also receive regular E-Bulletins with the latest information on VCS groups, Public Sector, Training, Funding and Job Opportunities.

All members can submit their own information for inclusion in a future SCEN E-Bulletin by contacting office@swalecvs.co.uk
