In 1999/2000 the Bureau decided to take stock of its on-going development, and through its project management component and other community development initiatives, realised that the current name of Swale Volunteer Bureau was actually not representing or recognising the new functions of the organisation. So, initially we became an affiliated CVS and in July 2004 full CVS status was granted by the National Association NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary & Community Action.

Formal status further raised the profile of Swale CVS cementing the onward progress from its very humble beginnings into the principal voluntary sector umbrella organisation in Swale as well as a vibrant and continuing Volunteer Bureau. This status has meant that Swale CVS has become an integral partner in local government regeneration structures, including neighbourhood renewal, as well as an important partner in many of the statutory sector strategic planning partnerships. However, Swale CVS still retains its strong presence at the grass roots level showing that it truly represents an organisation, which involves itself in all facets and strands of Swale society.

Swale CVS takes quality of service and good practice very seriously and has undertaken and gained accreditation from the national bodies of Volunteering England and the National Association for Voluntary & Community Action.
